Rome Office Intern

The Intern will support ECFR’s Rome office activities gaining insight into our advocacy work. We are searching for someone who is passionate about foreign policy and interested in gaining experience within a not for profit organisation within an international environment. You will assist the ECFR Rome Office advocacy, organizational and communications daily activities, according to circumstances and requests.

  • Salary: €800 gross salary per month


  • Support the Rome Office for the organization of policy and advocacy events
  • Contribute to raise the Rome Office and the organizations communication profile, through providing inputs, ghostwriting, innovative tools, uploading commentaries and other publications, podcasts, Facebook, Twitter and blogs – both in Italian and English
  • Maintain the ECFR Rome Office database (Italian political parties, Italian European Parliamentarians, Italian administrations, think tanks, press, etc).
  • Follow up and synthesize news related to the Italian foreign policy context in the Italian and foreign media
  • Get insights into all aspects of the core-work of ECFR
  • Other general responsibilities

Person specification

  • MA degree obtained no longer than 12 months prior the beginning of the internship
  • Very good knowledge of Italian politics and of Italy’s foreign policy
  • Background in international/European affairs: media and journalism background would be an added asset;
  • Excellent Italian language skills (written and oral) are essential; excellent English skills, other languages would be an asset
  • Interests and very good knowledge of international relations, comparative politics, European and Italian institutions
  • Genuine interest and curiosity in social media activities
  • Experience in ghostwriting related to international and European issues
  • Press office experience would be an added value
  • Good IT skills, including knowledge of database and website maintenance
  • Experience in research, administrative and organizational work
