Repatriating the children of ISIS members: the need for a pan-European effort

An off-the-record discussion on the need for a pan-European effort for repatriating the children of ISIS members

Guests

Orlaith Minogue, Conflict and humanitarian advocacy adviser at Save the Children UK.

Anthony Dworkin, Senior Policy Fellow at ECFR.

The European Council on Foreign Relations and Save The Children hosted aoff-the-record discussion looking at the need for a pan-European effort for repatriating the children of ISIS members.

Following the Turkish incursion into northern Syria, there is a new urgency for European governments to come up with a plan to handle the hundreds of European foreign fighters and ISIS supporters who have been detained in desperate conditions in the area for several months, and who could now escape or fall into the hands of the Syrian regime.

The event was based on ECFR Senior Policy Fellow Anthony Dworkin’s recent paper  Beyond good and evil: Why Europe should bring ISIS foreign fighters home.
