ECFR, in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation (FES), is hosting a discussion on “Iran-US: Preventing a Collision Course” on 21 January.

The panel will reflect on recent developments in US-Iran tensions and what could be expected in the coming months as both countries enter important election cycles. The discussions will also review findings from a recent FES report on the impact of the US maximum pressure campaign on Iranian domestic politics and its economy. The repercussion of the recent escalation for broader regional dynamics, including Iraq, will be examined. Panelists will offer proposals for what role external players may have in de-escalation efforts on both regional and the nuclear file, such as those proposed in a recent statement published by ECFR.
