Abdel Rahim Malouh

Abdel Rahim Malouh (عبد الرحيم ملوح), born in 1945 in Qalqilya, was a member of the PFLP which he co-founded in 1967. He served as the party’s deputy secretary general until 2013 (succeeded by Abu Ahmed Fouad). He was also a member of the PLO’s Executive Committee until May 2018.

He was arrested by Israel in 2002 and sentenced to seven years in prison. While in Israeli prison, he co-signed the June 2006 National Conciliation Document of the Prisoners — together with Marwan Barghouti (Fatah), Abdulkhaleq al-Natsheh (Hamas), Bassam Sa’adi (PIJ), and Mustafa Badarneh (DFLP).

He joined the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) in Baghdad in 1965. Malouh was then involved in the battle of Karameh in 1968 between the Israeli army and a joint force from the PLO and Jordan. He later became a PFLP commander in Beirut in 1982. Malouh returned to the West Bank in 1999 following the Oslo Accords, and in 2001 ran for secretary general of the PFLP, but lost to Ahmad Sa’adat. He was imprisoned by Israel in 2002 for 6 years.

Malouh passed away in December 2020.
