Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Operations and working closely with the Senior Financial Controller and staff in our pan European offices, the successful candidate will primarily be responsible for all day to day accounting requirements including financial record keeping, reconciliations, closing the books and reporting support. Operating and maintaining efficient financial systems and processes you shall also oversee day-to-day cash management and ensure statutory compliance.
The Senior Accountant will demonstrate relevant and proven experience in a busy office environment, working within a small to medium sized, multinational culture. The successful candidate must be able to operate independently, pro-actively and effectively with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels.

Manage all day-to-day accounting matters and ledgers and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial record-keeping in line with both German and international requirements
Close the books on a monthly basis, including all reconciliations, and support monthly reporting
Operate and maintain up-to-date financial systems, processes and policies, making best use of availble technology to support a networked organisation
Prepare single and consolidated statutory accounts in line with German and international requirements, assisting the auditors with their statutory duties
Day-to-day management of cash flow, ensuring that cash is available in the right places/currencies to pay liabilities
Day-to-day management of banking arrangements, ensuring adequate oversight of payments and banking security/access arrangements
Develop good working relationships with the charity’s auditors, banks, pension provider
Ensure suitable systems for internal control, protecting assets from fraud and abuse
Oversee payroll processing, compliance and proper accounting
Ensure company records are properly kept and maintained and support regulatory compliance
Adiquate and relevant hands-on accounting experience in an international, small to medium sized environment, preferably in a not-for-profit organisation
Business or accountancy qualification or equivalent professional/educational standard with strong technical bookkeeping knowledge (German GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS)
Proficient to a high level in the use of up-to-date financial systems in support of a networked organisation as well as in MS Office
Excellent written and oral communication skills with a high standard of written and spoken German and English
Able to demonstrate a customer-focused, pro-active approach
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent numeracy skills
Good organisational skills, flexibility and ability to multi-task
Highly reliable and quality driven with an eye for detail
Trustworthy with the ability to maintain confidentiality
