Programme Assistant - Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Programme
The Programme Assistant will support the MENA team in the planning and implementation of a new project, Stabilising Syria and Iraq after ISIS. This will include planning workshops and events in European capitals, providing logistical support for research trips and advocacy connected to the project, assisting in the dissemination of project materials, overall communication and advocacy connected to the project, and supporting research by the Fellows and Visiting Fellows. The Programme Assistant will also occasionally provide support to the team in the delivery of other projects. This position will report directly to the MENA Director and will work closely with the Programme coordinator and Policy Fellows.

Salary: €31,000 to €34,000 depending on experience
Plan, implement and report on regular research and advocacy events in different European capitals
Organise logistics for events and research trips to European capitals and to the MENA region
Assist in the production of ECFR promotional materials, such as newsletters and mail-outs
Strengthen and expand the programme’s policy and advocacy network and ensure the contact database is regularly updated
Maintain relevant parts of the website, make proposals for innovation and prepare texts and articles as required
Work closely with the MENA programme coordinators, finance and development teams to ensure smooth running of the project’s finances
Provide general administrative support to the MENA team. This may involve organising meetings, teleconferences, booking travel for team members, etc
Contribute to policy development and research and follow relevant discussions within and debates outside ECFR
Help to maintain ECFR MENA social media outlets
General research support as required
Other general responsibilities as may be reasonably requested over time in the context of overall ECFR priorities.
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
Proven experience of working within a busy office environment in an administration or assistant level role
Degree educated in international affairs, EU affairs, public policy, political sciences, Middle East studies or equivalent
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
A high standard of written and verbal English and German is essential
Good IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
Financial literacy, able to understand basic spreadsheets and budget principles
Ability to multi-task, work towards deadlines and manage challenging situations
Ability to work individually as well as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-national team
Working knowledge of at least one other European and/or Middle Eastern language is an advantage.
