Description: The first brainstorming session seeks to identify current and future challenges for increased digitalization in France. What is going well? What can be done better? What are lessons worth sharing? And what were lessons learned the hard way?

In specific we aim to explore what exact policies companies and start-ups are yearning for? Whether French regulators are prepared for the next hot thing, and what ought to come after the Digital Republic Bill. Are there any limits for companies to disrupt the marketplace? And what are the skills necessary for the 21st century workforce? Can French digital policies serve as a model within the European Union?

Description: The second session will explore how French law enforcement and defence agencies are envisioning their tasks evolve in cyberspace. What role should, wants, and can the private sector play to tackle cybercrime and defend IT infrastructure? What are the limits for law enforcement and is ‘hacking back’ an option? Where is the encryption debate in France moving towards and is ‘going dark’ really an issue in the coming age of IoT? And what are the rules of the game from a Ministry of Defence perspective when it comes to offensive cyber operations? Additionally, the session aims to highlight challenges we are slow to adapt to, are missing, or are still getting wrong.
