Warsaw Offices of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) and the German Marshall Fund of the United States have the pleasure to invite you for the public debate:

“New European (dis)order”

The event will take place on March 19th at 13:30-15:00 in Zachęta – National Gallery of Art

Address: plac Małachowskiego 3

The Ukrainian conflict, regardless its further scenario, has clearly shown that the European order after the Cold War was based, to some extent, on illusions and too optimistic expectations. The triumph of the West and the liberal democracy in the Cold War was wrongly perceived as an end of the geopolitics. At the same time, we believed in the unavoidable spread of the western model, at least in the European neighbourhood. The Russian aggression in Ukraine and the chaos in the southern neighbourhood of the European Union have proven that these assumptions were wrong. How the EU and the United States should react to the profound crisis or maybe even to the collapse of the Post-Cold War security order in Europe? Is the new strategy of containment an actual answer or maybe the European security system needs to reformulate and to accept the changes imposed by the challengers?

The debate will be held in Polish and English (translation will be provided).

We would like to kindly ask you to confirm your participation until March 18 via registration form.

Due to the limited number of seats, the organiser reserves rights to an early closure of the registration.

The meeting will be held under the auspices of “Gazeta Wyborcza”
