Nativism in Europe: Survey Results from across Europe

On 11 July, the Washington-based Pew Research Center released the results of a public opinion survey assessing degrees of nativism in 10 EU countries, including the UK. The survey's results, published here, assess public views of Muslims and refugees and look at how the increasing cultural and ethnic diversity is being seen and what determines a person's national identity. To what extent can these findings help us understand the results of the referendum on the UK membership of the EU? What does it mean for the future of the country and Europe? Can they explain the rise of Europe’s insurgent parties (See ECFR's recent publication here)?
