EU adopts Andrew Wilson and Nicu Popescu's recommendation on Moldova

22 Dec 09

The EU will send policy advisors to Moldova, with intention to support and guide the Moldovan government through necessary democractic reforms, as the country struggels to maintain political stability after the April election crisis and inability to elect a leader. The goal of the mission, officially announced yesterday, is to accelerate political association and further economic integration between the EU and Moldova.

Wilson and Popescu suggested the sending of policy advisors to Moldova and the rest of the eastern neighbourhood in their report  The limits of enlargement-lite: European and Russian power in the troubled neighbourhood and policy memo Supporting Moldova's Democratic Transition.
