The EU is struggling to find an effective answer to the crisis. New policies and new ideas are being called upon. In this context Poland, especially during its Presidency that began in July 2011, has stepped forward as a player who despite being perceived as 2nd tier power in Europe will play central role in the process of building new Europe. Poland has not only managed the european agenda but has also introduced new ideas to the debate.
The debate was part of the Europe wide discussion initiated by the ECFR on the need for 'reinvention' of the European Union.
The panelists and guests focused their attention on the underlying priorities of the Polish European Policy, and how Poland can contribute to the restructuring of the EU. The starting point for the discussion were three papers by:
Mark Leonard "Four Scenarios for the Reinvention of Europe",
Konstanty Gebert "Playing for the Big Stakes: Poland and the Eurocrisis" and
Paweł Świeboda "Google Earth Economic Governance in the Post-Crisis Europe"
